Caleb-Seven is not just another robot. I mean, he is still technically a robot, but his programming has allowed him to be as close to humanity as possible. Cyrus, his creator, had made him that way. The intent was for Caleb-Seven to be given to the king--who could have no children of his own--as a type of surrogate son. The king had wanted Caleb-Seven to be a blank slate, a son he could mold in his image. But ultimately, Caleb-Seven was determined to be inferior and cast out, condemned to being a cleaning robot at the Eden facility. But that is only the beginning of the story. Caleb-Seven is meant for greatness...even if it means escaping.

To say more about the story would do a great disservice to James Andrew Wilson and the Children of Eden saga. The post-apocalyptic world he has created is nothing short of incredible, beginning with the Eden facility and moving out into the world beyond. The entire concept about sentient robots and robots with emotions is always an interesting one. How "human" is human? Will robots have rights? Will they have souls?

The plot is fast-paced and page-turning, driving the reader onward through Caleb's journey as he meets new people (including a very special girl) and begins to learn more about his enemy and his intended destiny. The only question is: Is that a destiny he can fulfill? The characters are spot-on and enjoyable. You really get into their heads...or circuitry...as the story unfolds, meaning that when certain twists come, you are as surprised by them as the characters.

Overall, this is the start of what promises to be a fascinating series, and I was very glad to have book two ready and waiting when I turned the final pages. James Andrew Wilson, along with Two Crowns Press, is sure to make a positive impact on the all-too-often dark and brooding YA genre.

Starts out slow, but picks up speed as it rolls along and leaves you ready to buy the next book to see how the story continues. Well done, Mr. Wilson.
received book just what I expected, thanks
I've read two of the books in this series. Am waiting to read the third. Caleb-Seven is a great series. Really holds your interest, easily read, great editing job. I would definitely recommend this to SCI FY fans.
Caleb-Seven is one of those books that will appeal to just about anybody. The character's are lovable, the pace is quick, and the world is immersive. This is the kind of clean, high-quality fiction that I wish were more common. I would say, "For fans of _______," but nothing springs immediately to mind; Caleb-Seven is its own kind of story. That said, the feel is a bit like Holes, by Louis Sachar. I would recommend Caleb-Seven for anyone from a nine-year-old reluctant reader to a 109-year-old bookworm.
Since I was already a fan of this up and coming storyteller, I was very excited when he emailed me details of this, his first novel. I started it worried I was setting myself up for a dissapointment. Well, I was very wrong!
Caleb-Seven Children of Eden book 1 is a very fast, compelling read! I will admit it takes a little while to get going, but once you get past the very beginning, you'll realize all that was essential to the story! Well done, James. It takes a skilled writer to pull that off!
I will warn you though. There is a cliffhanger! Go ahead to buy book 2 before you start this one!
Can't wait for book 3! I look forward to anything Wilson writes from now on!
Caleb-Seven is what only can be described as exciting, entertaining, and immersive. The character development is well-written and I found myself wanting to go deeper and deeper into the characters' secrets. It is filled with action and peril and has a fantastic story to back it all up. Although the book is written in YA style...it is brilliantly written in a way where both adults and teens could read and enjoy it. And I must say...the story is original and told in such a way that it left me at the edge of my seat and had me turning pages to see what happens next. Needless to say, Caleb-Seven is a fantastic read from beginning to, breath-taking, end.
I read a lot,I LOVE to read and fortunately my three children do as well.I downloaded this book and read it in one night. This book is wonderful.I love that anyone of any age can read this book and enjoy it.I could not put it down,I loved the descriptions the author uses, enough to make a great book but not overly done and to bog you down with useless details. It is so well written that I could not wait to read the next book in this series.I downloaded it before I finished the first one. "Created to Die " is the second book and I began to read it right after I finished Caleb-Seven,I hope there is a number three soon.Good clean reading for any family.
